Sorry all, I was metformin hcl and pregnancy away from my main computer and a reliable internet connection while I was away in the Philippines. I didn’t have a chance to update my blog or really work on my existing projects. I have received a few requests for an affiliate template in Magneto, so guess I will finish that up, and get that out soon.

I have really been working my Video making while I was abroad. I didn’t get much of a chance to review the footage in country, but now that I am back I can see alot of my filming mistakes.

I did get in some poker games over there. it was nice to play some low stakes live. .40-.80 cents low.

one thing about the trip is that I have a list 1000 pages long of new things I want to do. New projects and such. So More coming soon.

I am now running 3 Sites with Magento. Two are Traditional Shopping cart sites, but the my newest one had to be an affiliate style site.

What I mean by an affiliate site is that when you click on the buy it now button you are taken to a 3rd party website to complete the sale. Magento does not do this out of the box, it took a long sleepless night for me to figure out how to do this. Not too many people are willing to share how they did this either. I have to thank Platinumtackle.com for their help.

I will be releasing the template that I created to do this very soon. I need to test it some more and finish building my new site.

Please Leave a comment if you are interested in this template.

In continuing my Android Programming saga.

On 6/10/2009
I started doing some of the samples on the Android Dev site. At first it was pretty easy, but soon the instructions starting using terms that I didn’t understand. It was now time go back to where I should have started and learn Java. I was soon following some beginner tutorial videos, but found the Videos really skipped the Meaning of certain terms and ideas. I needed a book. Tho I am generally not a fan of the For Dummies books, the Java for Dummies (4th ed) really helped clear up some confusion I was having. I was now able to read some of the more complex examples.

I am still working at learning Java. I am working thur the book and online videos. I am also reading an Android book, but all the concepts don’t make sense yet.

I am getting there, it is a piece of cake……mmmmmmm I want some cake now,

Magento Commerce

I have been playing around with Magento for a while now. I have to say that I am pretty happy with it and I think I will be migrating my sites over to it. The site is a bit resource intensive, but I think my server will do for now. As traffic builds on my site, I will have be moving to a cloud.

I own over 30 domains and I have used several web hosts over the years.  I now still use more than one host just so I don’t keep all my eggs in one basket.

My main host is 1&1 Hosting. They host the majority of my websites. They offer a great vaule and give me the rights to do what I need.  Their customer service is the only thing that is lacking, but it is getting better.  I have been with them for years and have had very little down time.

I have been doing some testing on my 1&1 Hosting account with Magento. The site runs pretty fast, but I will be moving to a more dedicated hosting plan when I take the site live.
