I love my Dropbox , but Google Drive and Microsoft side effects 0f metformin Sky Drive launched today with much flair. They are both about half the price of Dropbox, but my love for Dropbox is the easy folder integration, I have to test if these new services are as easy. The big concern no one is talking about, is the fine print and this would make me run from Google and give Microsoft a bug hug (and my money)
Google ToS: “When you upload or otherwise submit content to our Services, you give Google (and those we work with) a worldwide license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, create derivative works (such as those resulting from translations, adaptations or other changes we make so that your content works better with our Services), communicate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute such content.”
Microsoft SkyDrive ToS: “Except for material that we license to you, we don’t claim ownership of the content you provide on the service. Your content remains your content. We also don’t control, verify, or endorse the content that you and others make available on the service.”

I thought I would test it out by thowing up a quick wordpress site. I put up the 2nd domain I ever bought Pereda.org.
A decade or so ago pereda.org was a family tree website for my family, I became paranoid about all that info in the open and took down the site. I am not sure what the site will become, but it is my testing ground for now.

I am still working out all the kinks in getting my internet adventure up and running at full speed.
I got FeedBurner up and running on DanPereda.com and you can get my feed here. To my surprise I received quite a few subscribers within the day.
I also spent some time getting ShorePerformance.com looking respectable. There is really no content there right now and I suspect that it will be pretty blank for a little while.
I am getting my focused CPA / Affiliate site up and running. I recorded a screencast on setting up the site. I spent some time getting Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools setup for the site as well. I also signed up with my first CPA company.
Unfortunately, I have ton of papers to write for my classes, so everything is on hold for a few days. Enjoy.

My current busy schedule doesn’t give me much free time to learn new things, but I burning the midnight oil to learn Ruby on Rails. I don’t like to make things easy on myself either. I forced myself to use Ubuntu (10.04).
I spent the last few nights not doing much in the way of learning ruby and rails. I was really focused on getting my Ubuntu 10.04 development environment up and running. i also took a detour to learn about GIT and github.
GIT and Gihub are not hard, but there is not that many resources that teach you what GIT is and how it work from the ground up. Most if the information out there just assume you know what it is and WHY you need to use it.
I did get rails and everything working from the Command line, but I also install Radrails and there was some glitches getting it to work. I got thru a few chapters of the book and have an outline of the DEMO shopping cart system working. Hopefully now I can pick up the pace and start working on my own ideas soon.
